About this opportunity

NASA Space Apps is NASA's annual global hackathon, and Toronto has its own in-person site for 2026: November 14–15 at the Bombardier Centre for Aerospace and Aviation, Centennial College Downsview Campus (65 Carl Hall Road, in a repurposed de Havilland aircraft facility at Downsview Park). Over two days, multidisciplinary teams — coders, scientists, designers, storytellers and makers — build software, hardware prototypes, data visualisations and creative work against challenges written by NASA subject-matter experts. Teams can have up to six people, and you register on the official NASA Space Apps site, then select Toronto as your local event. Submitting a project earns a participant certificate and makes you eligible for Global Judging. Challenge statements and NASA's datasets are released ahead of the weekend (October 28, 2026), so you can read up before you arrive.

What you get

  • 48 hours building with NASA's open data on real challenge statements
  • Participant certificate for submitted projects, plus eligibility for Global Judging
  • Team formation with people from Toronto's tech, aerospace and creative communities
  • Access to the Bombardier Centre for Aerospace and Aviation for the weekend

Prize or recognition

Global Judging recognition (no cash prize published)
