UNHACK 2026 — York University SDG hackathon

About this opportunity

UNHACK 2026 runs Saturday November 7 – Sunday November 8, 2026 at the Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence on York's Keele campus. Teams of 3–5 pick a UN Sustainable Development Goal challenge, define the problem, build a prototype or MVP and pitch to judges, with top teams pitching again on the main stage. No startup idea or hackathon experience is needed — you can sign up solo and be matched with a team. There is a $15 refundable deposit, returned if you complete both days. The first 60 eligible domestic students may also receive $325 after completing the program requirements. There is no overnight access to the venue.

What you get

• Cash prizes for the top three teams
• Up to $325 for the first 60 eligible domestic finishers
• Mentorship and a pitch on the main stage for finalists
